The Tourism Institute, serving as Georgias national hub for the Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea, played an active role in the prestigious DOORS Black Sea Stakeholder Conference. 'Black Sea Futures: Science, Prosperity, and People', held on 23-24 April in Bucharest, Romania. This event, distinguished by its high-level discussions, interactive co-design workshops, and a showcase of Black Sea research and innovation, provided a platform for insightful discourse.
The conference served as a unique opportunity for stakeholders to engage in discussions regarding the challenges and prospects within sustainable blue economy sectors. Topics ranged from the development of the Digital Twin Ocean to initiatives aimed at enhancing training and capacity in the Black Sea region. Moreover, critical themes such as Ocean Literacy and the science-policy interface were explored.
Mamuka Berdzenishvili, the executive director of the institute, contributed to a panel discussion focusing on sustainable practices within the blue economy. Drawing from Georgias experiences, he addressed pertinent issues concerning the sustainability of marine tourism.
