’’Tourism 4.0 For the Black Sea,’’ has been featured as the 11th case in the Handbook on Encouraging Sustainable Tourism Practices published by the European Travel Commission (ETC). This handbook serves as a compendium of successful tourism initiatives, aimed at fostering sustainable practices in the industry. Specifically, our case focuses on data-driven decision making to manage the impacts of tourism in the Black Sea region.
ETC’s initiative of compiling such diverse and effective tourism cases reflects a commitment to promoting sustainability and resilience in European destinations. By showcasing innovative approaches to tourism management, the handbook seeks to inspire stakeholders and facilitate the transition to a more sustainable tourism ecosystem, particularly in the wake of the pandemic.
As destinations emerge from the challenges posed by COVID-19, their role in shaping Europe’s tourism landscape becomes increasingly pivotal. ETC anticipates that this handbook will serve as a catalyst for knowledge exchange among National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) and Destination Management Organisations (DMOs), empowering them to implement sustainable strategies for long-term resilience.
Through evidence-based case studies and actionable insights, the handbook aims to encourage responsible behaviour among both tourism suppliers and consumers. By fostering collaboration and sharing best practices, it endeavours to lay the groundwork for a more sustainable and resilient tourism sector in the post-pandemic era.
